Great Wall Motor Company Limited (GWM), as China’s leading SUV and pickup manufacturer and privately owned enterprise, was listed both on H share market in Hong Kong and A share market in Chinese Mainland. It has over 30 holding subsidiaries with more than 48,000 employees. Currently, the products range covers three main categories of Haval SUV, Great Wall PC and Wingle Pickup. Based on the Baoding and Tianjin production bases GWM has already reached the production capability of 800,000 vehicles and components as well as the independent matching capacity of core components such as engine and transmission, etc.
Great Wall Honors
GWM has been listed in “the Forbes Top 100 Chinese Enterprises” twice, and has won the honors of “China’s Top 500 Most Valuable Brands” for 4 years consecutively, "Most Valuable Listed Automobile Company", "No.1 of the Top 10 Listed Chinese Automobile Companies". Great Wall Motors experiences a stable operation and profound foundation, In 2011, the business turnover reached 30.431 billion Yuan with a year-on-year increase of 31.13%; operating profit of 4.079 billion Yuan, up 37.44%; Net profit of 3.556 billion Yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 25.77%. The earning per share was 1.23 Yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 25.06%. By December 31, 2011, the total assets of the company had reached 33.371 billion Yuan, registering a year-on-year increase of 40.82%. Meanwhile, the substantial development potential has been unanimously affirmed by the international capital market.
GWM has always been taking the lead in international market and domestic market. It has maintained the leading place in terms of export quantity and export turnover among Chinese auto manufacturers for many years consecutively. In 2009, its four main models passed EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) as the first independent auto brand in China. At present, Great Wall Motors’ vehicles have already been exported to more than 100 countries with more than 800 overseas sales networks scattering in over 80 countries all over the world. Europe, Central and South America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Russia, Australia, South Africa, Italy, Chile have been the major export countries and regions for GWM.
Aiming at brand internationalization development, Great Wall Motors strives to conduct global business operation through KD plants construction, global network establishment, international racing events marketing, high-end market exploration. Through mutual efforts that GWM and the overseas distributors have made, Great Wall Motors has achieved outstanding achievements in the development of overseas market.
In June and December 2009, Great Wall Wingle won Pickup Monthly Sales Champion in Italy for twice;
In 2011, GWM obtained a purchase order of 2,000 units of Wingle Pickup from Italy, creating a new record that Chinese diesel-powered Wingle Pickup firstly entered EU markets and completely marched into EU’s high-end diesel-powered Wingle Pickup segment markets.
In February 2012 Great Wall Motors (Bulgaria) KD plant was put into operation as the first Chinese auto brand that has established KD plant in one of the EU countries.
Great Wall Motors has been fully committed to the projects such as brand construction, sales and service network expansion, technology exportation, spare parts center construction and overseas KD plants construction. Thanking to the high-quality products, excellent after-sales service and fabulous brand image, GWM has outshined other China auto brands and become the most outstanding independent auto brand of China.
For many years, Great Wall Motor has always required its partners to have after-sales service entities and focused on developing after-sales service for the overseas market. Through many years' scientific layout, GWM has established more than 800 after-sales service stations all over the world, thus ensuring the effective maintenance service radius. In addition, the spare parts center, overseas training center and technical personnel dispatch have become the solid foundation for GWM to meet clients' demand.
Presently GWM has more than 10 overseas KD assembly plants, of which the construction will be an important measure for sales growth in the overseas market and internationalization construction of Great Wall Motors in the future. On February 21, 2012, Great Wall Motors (Bulgaria) KD plant was put into production as the first step for KD assembly of Chinese independent brand in EU.
Three Major Product Categories
In 2009 GWM determined the strategy of three Major Product Categories. Up to date Haval SUV has maintained the first ranking in sales and export volume in China for 9 consecutive years. Wingle Pickup has been ranking first in terms of sales, export volume and market share in China for 43 consecutive years. Great Wall PC has achieved a fairly good brand name with the monthly sales over 10,000 units, which demonstrates the outstanding capacity comparable to the joint-venture brands.
In the future Great Wall Motors will continue to focus on the three main categories of SUV, PC, Pickup, targeting at becoming the leader of market segment with each brand being strongly positioned: Haval——No.1 SUV Brand in china; Wingle——No.1 pickup Brand in china; Great Wall——China’s Best-selling Brand of Passenger Cars. The three main categories of vehicles together strongly support the “Great Wall Motors” brand.
R & D Capacity
In the respect of R & D, GWM has been in possession of international class equipments and system. In recent years, Great Wall Motor has done much for improving R&D facilities which is hard to achieve by common enterprises. Especially its Four Centers (Testing Center, Trial Production Center, Modeling Center, CAE Center) have already reached world-class level and domestic-leading level.
Jointly recognized as National Certified Enterprise Technical Center, Unit Setting up Post-doctoral Scientific Research Station by five ministries and commissions such as National Development, Reform Commission and Ministry of Science and Technology in may 2006, In February, 2011, Great Wall Motors’ Technology Center became the “National Innovative Enterprise”. At present, the Center has owned a R&D team of over 5000 persons. In the next five years, Great Wall Motors will adopt strategies of Excessive Investment of Technology Resources for pursuing industry leadership. It will continue to expand the R&D team and plans to have more than 10,000 professional technicians in 2043, and will have world-leading R& D level and technical ability by 2013.
