ACT's Commercial Vehicle Forecasts Expand to China

ACT Research Co., LLC, announced the publication of a forecast of the commercial vehicle market demand in China. The announcement came from Kenneth W. Vieth, ACT general manager and senior partner.

"ACT became very interested in the China commercial vehicle (CV) industry about five years ago as it became more and more apparent that China was no longer a sleeping giant, but an emerging worldwide participant, " said Vieth. "During these years, China has moved to the number one spot for CV production, and is now the largest medium-heavy CV market in the world. Whether you are looking at China as a market of opportunity, or as a competitor, both descriptions apply."

Vieth said that ACT had  been approached by major U.S. suppliers at various times to provide quality and timely China CV data, analysis, and forecasts. ACT's actions of over the past several years have been focused on providing this service. The first step was a survey of the China CV industry & NA OEM/supplier participation/activity there. That was followed by several fact-finding trips to China. The first fruits of ACT's relationship building in China was developing a partnership with the China State Information Center (SIC). The initial result of the relationship is the publication of a new quarterly report, "The China Commercial Vehicle Demand Outlook."

Mr. Xu Changming, Director-General of the Business Consulting Center, SIC, said, "The China Commercial Vehicle Demand Outlook makes an in-depth analysis of China’s macroeconomy as well as the medium- and heavy-duty truck market, and, based on that, makes a forecast on China’s macroeconomy trend and medium- and heavy-duty truck market sales needed to support that growth. The report also includes a competitive analysis of major OEMs."

The SIC is affiliated with the National Development and Reform Commission of China and is engaged in research on the macroeconomy, key industries, and information technology. The Business Consulting Center, a division of SIC, specializes in auto market/industry research.
