Navistar Plans To Launch Light, Medium Commercial Vehicles
(chinatrucks.com, Jan.13, 2010)Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd. is currently focusing on heavy commercial vehicles but plans to launch new light and medium models in the fiscal year through March 2012, a senior executive said Wednesday.
"...After March 2011, we will upgrade our existing LCV (light commercial vehicle) model under the Mahindra Navistar brand and will also introduce new models," Akhilesh Kumar, vice president of sales and marketing, told Dow Jones Newswires at the ongoing auto show in New Delhi.
He added that the company will launch medium commercial vehicle models as well.
The company--a joint venture between India's Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (500520.BY) and U.S.-based Navistar International Corp. (NAV)--expects LCV sales to grow 20% to 10,000-11,000 units by March this year.
It expects to post the same growth rate in the year through March 2011, Kumar said.
Mahindra Navistar, which unveiled two trucks with 40 and 49 ton capacity Wednesday, also expects double-digit growth in heavy commercial vehicle sales in the fiscal year beginning April 2010.
