Indian plant of Volvo to invest 420 million euros to establish engine plant
(chinatrucks.com, June 18, 2010) Indian AV Company of Volvo truck is to invest 420 million euros to establish engine plant. Indian AV company of Volvo truck is named as Volvo Eicher commercial vehicle company. It was set up in 2008.
New plant is located at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh of India. The new plant will be responsible for manufacturing engine 5L and 8L of medium truck and buses from 2012 since it has been completed. These engines are not only serving for local assembly, but also exporting to overseas countries.
The investment of Volvo Eicher means that Volvo truck will have its own engine assembly plant. The engines produced by new plant will apply on truck and buses promoted in future, as well as heavy truck produced by Eicher.
