Dongfeng Plans to Assemble Trucks in Russia
Date:2012-10-26 Author:Daniel Source:www.chinatrucks.com
www.chinatrucks.com:Dongfeng used to introduce a series of vehicle manufacturing factories and imitate Russian trucks as the prototype of Chinese trucks at the early days of the new nation. Now, Chinese vehicle manufacturers begin to return to Russia, providing financial and technical support to Russian truck brands.
As reported by Russian media, Chinese vehicle manufacturer Dongfeng is planning to assemble trucks at ZIL factory, which is another step to revitalize the oldest truck manufacturer in Russia history. ZIL has a 90 years’ history to produce trucks and was famous for building limousines for Russian leaders.
Dongfeng is interested in local manufacturers and conducting negotiations with potential partners, including manufacturers in Moscow. As insiders revealed, the first step of Dongfeng’s plan is to examine all the possibilities, which will take 2 or 3 years to start assembling vehicles.
Dongfeng’s revitalization for Russian manufacturers is the goal that Moscow government has set in the early 2012. Presently, GAZ Group is the largest vehicle manufacturer in Russia, accounting for 47.3% of the market share. KAMAZ Group and ZIL rank the second and third in the market.
