Overseas Sales of Sany to Reach 10 Billion Yuan This Year
Date:2012-10-29 Author:Daniel Source:www.chinatrucks.com
www.chinatrucks.com: “The overseas sales of Sany will reach 10 billion yuan this year” He Dongdong, vice president of Sany heavy industry, said at the annual meeting of Chinese CEO. He believed the after the “differentiation” period, the company would step into the “internationalization” period according to Herman Simon’s theory.
When taking interview, He said “As the leader of the industry, sales of Caterpillar grew by 20% from January to September, Sany grew by 50% in the first three quarters. Therefore, globally speaking, surplus has no been met.”
However, as statistics shows, the revenue of Sany only grew by 4.6% on a year-on-year basis and the profit declined by 13% compared with the same period last year. Therefore, if 50% of growth was realized in the first three quarters, a huge rise in the sales must be achieved in the third quarter. Apparently, the shrinking market has much to do with the intense moves in overseas market.
Recently, the wind power project of Sany met obstacles in the US. Though, the project belonged to the unlisted asset and was not directly related to Sany at the legislative level, Sany, who is looking for expansion in the international market, still shudders. As He stressed, those competitive companies will always meet economic bulwark or non-economic bulwark on their way to the international stage. Chinese companies have always been drifting outside Western culture; lots of difficulties will be met in their “internationalization”.
Even for companies who have entered the international market, how to stand firmly in the market and how to embed themselves internationally are challenges to be faced. For a long time, Chinese companies usually build their brands abroad with the “Made in China” image as the start. He claimed “Cultural and managing conflict tend to be caused in the overseas market mainly by Chinese culture and management style.”
Analysts believe that if the international market can rebound, Sany’s overseas moves are worth trying. However, successful cases of Chinese going out to the international market are rarely seen so far.
