2015 Dakar Rally: Foton’s Final Standings
www.chinatrucks.com: Recently, the 37th Dakar Rally came to its conclusion, with Foton Motor as the sole Chinese brand to have completed the race in its entirety. The rally began on January 3rd and lasted fourteen days, covering over 10,000 kilometers of arduous terrain across Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
Dakar is the world’s most famous, most difficult long-distance rally. This year’s rally began with 144 trucks and ended with only 44% of vehicles making it across the finish line. Because of one collision and another oversight, last year’s rally was toilsome for Foton – as it completed up to stage 17 with its two Tunland trucks. After one full year of careful preparation, which included the Dakar Rally Warm-up in Peru in 2015, Foton’s team finished the entire rally without incident and improved its rank over last year, placing in spots 57 and 59, respectively.
Foton would not have completed the race, had it not been for the drivers and all of the Auman TX heavy-duty trucks, which served as service trucks along every stage of the rally. Expect more news from Foton about a special edition Tunland coming soon.
