Parkistan Ghandhara Begans Assembly JAC Light Truck X200
Ghandhara Nissan Ltd (GNL) has started local assembly of JAC’s one-tonne pickup truck (model X200) in collaboration with JAC Motor China.
GNL had imported 600 JAC units in the last six months and after receiving good response from the consumers the company decided to initiate local assembly, sources in GNL told Dawn on Friday. The government had already given the approval for local assembly.
The company, which had signed the cooperation agreement with JAC China in April 2016, has invested Rs25 million in jigs and fixtures including design and development.
Production of JAC had created around 100 new jobs in GNL while the number of jobs would be more in allied industry and dealership network.
On localisation of parts, an official said the company is working aggressively on localisation of parts to remain competitive which would create more jobs in the vending industry.
The 2,771cc product carries price tag of Rs1.6 million.
The plant has the capacity to produce 5,000 units per annum on single shift basis. GNL plans to introduce more JAC models which include pickups and light duty trucks in the local market.
The company had already received brownfield status for its car plant and had signed an agreement with Nissan Motor Corporation to assemble Datsun models. (www.chinatrucks.com)
