www.chinatrucks.com: On April 19, 2017, at Auto Shanghai 2017, Qingling holds the new truck press release conference and announces the launch of new generation GIGA. GIGA, on the basis of Chinese market demands, is a new product developed on the new platform. It is so far Qingling’s first heavy truck that can go into mass production.
It is reported that the new GIGA has evolved from the Japanese ISUZU GIGA launched in 2015 Tokyo Autoshow.
GIGA follows ISUZU’s double “V”shape family front. Simple and grand design tells its pure ISUZU quality. It provides wide double berths, making the drivers’ stay more comfortable and convenient. On the site, the range on show comprised of GIGA 6x2, 4x2 tractors, 8x4 refrigerated trucks and 4x2 vans. As a modeling product, it will bring its customer a product with top quality at a proper price, satisfying various demands in the industry.
In addition to driving cab, Qingling GIGA is also upgraded in core parts: engine, transmission and axle.
In power, GIGA can equip ISUZU 6U and 6W engines that generate 5 horsepower ranging from 350hp to 520hp. Built on ISUZU’s brand new platform, two variants of the GIGA were introduced, including 9.8L engine mostly for 4x2 and 8x4 trucks, and 15.6L engine for tractors, especially 6x4 tractors.
All GIGA trucks are equipped with ZF new generation Ecosplit4 transmission, with 16-gearshift transmission for tractors and 8-gearshift for retrofit chassis truck. New generation of ZF transmission adopts light weight design with transmission efficiency as high as 99.7%, saving more than 3% fuel than the previous generation.
At the site, emphasis also was placed on 6x4 and 4x2 tractors’ rear axle. Meritor 166 drum double-axles was developed for 6x4 tractors, meeting the demand for a maximum load of 84t and Meritor 176 drum single-axle for 4x2 tractors.
