SAIC-GM-Wuling Sells 262,012 Vehicles in China in February
www.chinatrucks.com: General Motors and its joint ventures sold 215,070 vehicles in China during February. Sales were down 10.6 percent from the same month last year due to the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday falling in February this year.
Between January and February, Shanghai GM sold 255,243 units in China, which was up 12.4 percent on an annual basis, and SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 262,012 units in China, which was up 4.7 percent. Both were records for the period. FAW-GM sold 8,160 vehicles in China, which was a decrease of 14.1 percent from the same period last year.
In February, Shanghai GM’s domestic sales were down 2.0 percent year on year to 101,023 units, SAIC-GM-Wuling’s domestic sales were down 15.4 percent to 110,193 units and FAW-GM’s domestic sales were down 48.1 percent to 3,670 units.
Wuling sales across China decreased 11.7 percent from February 2012 to 104,138 units. The Hong Guang set a new February sales record of 32,048 units, up 29.8 percent year on year. Sales of the Baojun brand decreased 24.5 percent on an annual basis to 6,055 units.
General Motors traces its roots back to 1908. GM has 12 joint ventures, two wholly owned foreign enterprises and more than 55,000 employees in China. GM and its joint ventures offer the broadest lineup of vehicles and brands among automakers in China. Passenger cars and commercial vehicles are sold under the Baojun, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Jiefang, Opel and Wuling brands.
