EV Battery Maker Gotion Signs Supply Deal with Geely Commercial Vehicle Division
CHINA -- Gotion High-Tech, one of the largest power battery makers in China, recently entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group (GCV). The two parties have agreed that Gotion High-tech will supply an estimated total of 126,000 electric vehicle (EV) battery packs to Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group (GCV) from 2022 to 2024.
Zhang Wei, Vice President of China Business Unit of Gotion Hi-Tech, and Li Xingjian, Director of Supply Chain Center of Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group (GCV), signed the contract on site as representatives of both parties.
In recent years, Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group (GCV) has developed steadily in the new energy market and has seen its market share continuously increasing. Gotion Hi-Tech has clearly stated that it will increase the supply of batteries for Geely's light commercial vehicles year by year.
Gotion has committed to supply power cell products to GCV from 2022 to 2024, with an estimated total of 126,000 units power cell products for Mini Van, light truck and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). Specifically, the contract was signed through Hefei Gotion, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gotion. GCV is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, whose brands include Farizon Auto, Hanma Technology, Ouling Auto, Green Intelligent Link and Oneworld Technology, according to Geely’s website.
Gotion High-tech has worked previously with GVC for years and signed a cooperation framework agreement in 2019. Over the past few years, the two sides have been working closely on projects around pure electric mini-van, pure electric light trucks, extended range light trucks and pure electric buses, which effectively enhanced the competitiveness of both sides in their respective fields. In November 2021, Gotion Hi-Tech also joined hands with 11 upstream and downstream enterprises, including Gotion and Farizon Auto, to establish the "China Zero Carbon Land Transportation Alliance" to jointly promote the development of China's logistics toward zero carbon, intelligence and efficiency.
