Farizon Auto Sets Roadmap for Global Expansion
Farizon Auto (Farizon), the world’s largest producer of electric commercial vehicles and a brand of Geely Holding Group, has confirmed key markets for global expansion, focusing first on the European and MENA (Middle-East and North Africa) regions, followed by APAC (Asia-Pacific). This strategic move was highlighted at the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ZF Friedrichshafen AG (ZF), a global technology company, at the IAA Transportation 2024.
As part of its global expansion, Farizon will launch the Farizon SuperVAN in selected European markets, including Türkiye, Serbia, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and CEE (Central and Eastern European) countries. The SuperVAN offers the largest space in its class and is the world’s first commercial vehicle to adopt the Drive-by-Wire intelligent architecture. The Farizon SuperVAN is already available in the Chinese market in multiple body forms, includes short and long wheelbase options, as well as high and low roof models, to meet user demands for unique electric commercial vehicles.
Farizon also plans to expand its present business in the MENA region, primarily in Gulf States such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the first phase. This expansion marks a significant milestone in Farizon’s international growth strategy and underscores its commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable transportation solutions on a worldwide scale.
Farizon has also developed a partnership with ZF that will drive the development of Farizon’s next-generation methanol-hydrogen vehicles, with a primary focus on the Farizon Homtruck series. The Homtruck is among the most advanced and eco-friendly commercial vehicles, offering multiple powertrain options including range extender, methanol hybrid and pure electric solutions.
This collaboration will leverage ZF’s advanced technologies to improve energy efficiency, truck trailer safety and vehicle intelligence, which will be applied to Farizon's vehicles first in the Chinese market. Additionally, the cooperation will support the growth of the methanol-hydrogen ecosystem. ZF’s expertise in e-mobility solutions, braking and ADAS, as well as other driveline and chassis technologies will be instrumental in advancing this sustainable and cost-effective fuel alternative.
“This cooperation demonstrates the commitment of both parties to technological innovation and market development,” says Professor Dr. Peter Laier, Member of the ZF Board of Management and responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Solutions Division. “As a leading supplier of one-stop-shop solutions to the commercial vehicles industry, ZF is committed to combining technical expertise with flexible and open technology approaches to drive industry innovation and meet the needs of various transportation scenarios.”
Fan Xianjun, CEO of Farizon Auto, stated, “Sustainable development has become a global consensus. ZF and Farizon are leaders in their respective fields, and their comprehensive strategic cooperation will provide cleaner, more economical and more efficient solutions for commercial vehicle users in China and around the world, accelerating a new future for zero-carbon road transportation.”
