Continental cuts European truck tyre output by 6.5 %
German car parts maker Continental is cutting truck tyre production at its three European plants this year by 6.5 percent, a spokesman for the company said on Monday.

"The entire European replacement business recorded a drop of almost 10 percent in the first eight months of this year, without any sign of improvement," Continental said in a statement, adding that it planned to cut output to compensate for "considerable volume losses".
Radial truck tyre production at its German plant in Hanover, in Otrokovice in the Czech Republic and in Puchov in neighboring Slovakia amounted to 4.1 million tyres last year in total.
In Hanover, where its production labour costs are the highest, the company is reducing production permanently to 1 million from 1.3 million. This will result in 120 job cuts.
