Scania chooses Yara as its global AdBlue supplier

Date:2012-02-03 Source:www.chinatrucks.com

www.chinatrucks.com: Yara International and Scania today announced cooperation in AdBlue supply on several continents. AdBlue is a solution that works with nitrogen oxide reducing catalytic converters to lower harmful emissions from trucks. This is the first ever agreement signed at global level for the aftermarket between a heavy duty truck manufacturer and an AdBlue supplier reflecting new air quality legislations around the world.

The agreement came into effect on January 1st 2012 and makes Yara the selected AdBlue supplier of Scania. Yara delivers the product under its own brand name, Air1.

As of January 2012, several major countries, such as Brazil and China, have implemented legislation on NOx emissions, requiring heavy duty vehicles to use environmental friendly solutions like AdBlue. Scania dealers and workshops around the world will offer AdBlue for counter sales and a refilling supply for the trucks.

The cooperation covers the following geographical areas:
Europe, including Russia, Ukraine and Turkey
Asia Pacific, including China, Australia and New Zealand
Latin America, including Brazil and Colombia
Africa, including South Africa

Yara was chosen as Scania’s supplier, as they stand out as the most competitive supplier in the selected countries and is one of the few suppliers with a global outreach. Yara offers top quality products, reliability of supply and local presence in all markets.

“We are delighted to cooperate with Scania globally. Due to our strategically located production plants and dedicated terminals, Yara is the leading prime supplier of high quality AdBlue and has a reliable global supply chain. Our Air1 brand is the only global brand in this market with a unique AdBlue expertise. We are really looking forward to making this cooperation a success for both companies,” added Rolf Isberg, Head of the Air1 business globally at Yara International.

AdBlue is a high quality urea solution that is used with the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalyst on trucks, enabling it to turn harmful emissions from diesel engines into harmless water vapor and nitrogen. It allows truck drivers to meet more stringent restrictions on exhaust gas emissions that came into effect in October 2006 in Europe, and that are now implemented around  the world. AdBlue is also known as ARLA32 in Brazil and DEF in North America.
