Man May Build Truck Plant in Western Russia, Kommersant Says
MAN AG may build a heavy-truck assembly plant in the Bryansk region of western Russia, Kommersant reported, citing Deputy Transport Minister Yevgeny Moskvichev.
The truck maker plans to spend ``hundreds of millions of dollars"' on the factory and may announce the decision at the industrial trade fair in Hanover, Germany, at the end of this month, the Moscow-based newspaper said, citing Vladimir Korobeinikov, deputy chief executive officer of MAN's Russian unit.
Munich-based MAN is the fourth foreign truck maker to consider or plan a Russian plant, after Daimler AG, Scania AB and Volvo AB, Kommersant said. Volvo is building a plant, while Daimler is completing the purchase of a 42 percent stake in Russia's biggest truck manufacturer, OAO KamAZ.
