The first Russia-China Auto Forum ended in Beijing
The first Russia-China Auto Forum ended in Beijing on Oct. 26. The forum was organized by DRCNET, SOLO Consulting & China Association of Auto Manufacturers. More than 400 representatives both from Russian and Chinese Auto industry presented on the forum. Representatives of auto giants like Dongfeng, Hualing, Sinotruk, Foton and Russia auto maker AMO Zil all presented on the forum and delivered speeches on trade and cooperation.
The forum was held when many Chinese auto makers have met throwbacks in Russia on their projects of assembly plants building. The forum supplied a platform of exchanging ideas and finding problems and seeking ways to solve them. On the forum many speakers gave excellent speeches, they all hoped that the Sino-Russia trade, especially, auto trade would be enlarged.
According to representatives of Russia, the price/performance ratio of Chinese autos is high so that Chinese autos have set great pressure on Russian local manufacturers. In order to develop Russian auto industry which has been growing in greenhouse of protection for a long time, Russia government began to prohibit foreign manufacturers to build more plants in Russia since Sep., 15. On the other hand, they try to attract more foreign investment and advanced auto manufacturing technologies to Russia. Russian government has granted six local manufacturers to build assembly plants with foreign auto makers. Though building plants applications of Chinese manufacturers were rejected last month, they may continue to expand in Russia in this way.
Russian speakers have introduced Russia’s overall trade& tax policies on vehicle or auto spare parts import, examination procedures, custom duties & their policies in Economic Special Zone. While Chinese speakers have gave introductions of the history & current situation of Chinese Auto industry, examination procedures, the safety of Chinese made vehicles, etc. It looks like that the topic range of this forum is wide; however, most of them are just statistics and facts.
Many people hoped that this forum would help to break the deadlock of Sino-Russia auto trade however the forum just was a platform that helped to enlarge mutual understanding. We should not have hoped so much. After all it is just a beginning and the most important step in the first is to know each other well and to trust each other in the future.
